The Directorate of State Lotteries was created on 23.02.1995 to organize, conduct & promote the State Lotteries.

The Directorate of Small Savings and Lotteries was established w.e.f. 01.04.2006 by merging the Directorate of State Lotteries and National Savings Organisation into one Department under the nomenclature as Directorate of Small Savings & Lotteries.

Government vide Gazette notification No. JS(Bud)/32/2010 dated 7th May, 2010 started Online and Paper Lottery w.e.f. 10.05.2010 by appointing Marketing Agent as Sole Agent to operate lotteries of the Goa State. The results are published on the Department website www.statelotteries.goa.gov.in and also on Official Gazette https://goaprintingpress.gov.in.

 The scheme formulated from time to time are notified in Official Gazette.

This Department release Grant-in-Aid to IPA (Provedoria) for implementation of its various welfare schemes for the poor and under-privileged and maintenance of old age homes and asylums in South Goa and North Goa. Further these funds are also utilized to run the Sanjay School for the Special children with an effort to join them in mainstream specially in education system.

Under Small Savings Schemes agents are appointed to mobilize more financial resources in the state. The Small Savings wing is having three agencies viz. Standardised Agency System (SAS), Mahila Pradhan Kshtriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) and Public Provident Fund (PPF) Scheme of National Savings Organisation.
